Tutu Season

We are heading into tutu season for {Kadydid Designs}. 

 August through mid-October, we sell more tutus than the rest of the year combined. 

 It gets kind of crazy, but that's okay, because they are super fun to make. 

 And - they look super cute too!!

This photo below is of our newest one; all white with glitter and shimmer.

It would be perfect for a little Halloween ghost, fairy, princess, bunny rabbit, bride, fairy...the list goes on.

It will be in the shop soon; available in regular lengths and princess lengths too.

6 Months!

Remember me showing you my attempts at headband making a few days ago?  

Well.  I got the photos back from my daughter's 6 month photo shoot. 

 And I know I'm her mom, and I'm totally biased, but I am IN LOVE.  

Every time I look at the photos (which is pretty much all the time right now) 

they take my breath away.

 So...I think the headband worked out okay.  And her dress is one of our Kadydid Design tutu dresses that you will be able to find in our shop soon.

And for good measure; all three of my sweet kiddos (taken the same day).

Now that I'm done bragging, I just wanted to let you know that I think I'm going to make a limited number of the headbands like the one my daughter wore above.  I've had SO much positive feedback about them.  Soooo...if you're interested, let me know!  And keep an eye out on our Facebook page to find out when they'll be available!

We have been so incredibly busy the last few weeks getting new items ready to go in the shop!

Scrappy Skirts

The other day, I found myself in a quiet house with nothing pressing to do. Amazing, right? For awhile, now, I've been trying to decide what to do with all my extra fabric scraps. I haven't been able to think of a project for them, but can't bear to throw them away, either.

Then it dawned on me! Fabric scrap tutus! These are nothing new; I'm sure you've seen them floating all over blog-land. I'm just not sure why it took me so long to think of that as a way to use up my scraps!

So, I sat down and made my first fabric tutu. A Christmas themed tutu. And amazingly, with just as much fluff and fun as the tulle tutus!
Yes, that would be my almost 2 year old son modeling the tutu for me. It took some serious bribing on my end to get him to even put the thing on, let alone stand still and let me take some photos.
Which explains why they're pretty blurry. I'm gonna have to find a little girl to model for me...I want to see the twirling action on this skirt!

So. Blurry photos aside, what do you think? I think I'll give them a go in the shop and see how they do!

Little Ladybug

Our red and black tutu has been turned into an adorable ladybug costume for this toddler. What you can't see is that her mother has since pinned large, black polka dots on the red, bottom layer of the skirt for the full "ladybug effect". So sweet!

Keep in mind that all of our tutus can be fully customized! We've had quite a few requests this past week...everything from slight color changes, ribbon requests, even adult sizes. We are more than happy to accommodate them all!

How cute is she? This little toddler is wearing one of the two Kadydid tutus she has...the other one is this one, and is currently being turned into a ladybug costume for Halloween. Can't wait to see those photos!

2011 VMA's

Did anybody watch the VMA's last night? I did not. BUT. One Etsy shop owner did, and based her treasury list totally based on Beyonce's dress last night. I'm definitely going to have to look up some photos today!
