Diamond Candle: Giveaway!!

Have you guys seen any on-line ads for Diamond Candle?  I hadn't; until just recently.  And now I see them EVERYwhere.  If you haven't heard about them; here's the scoop.  They make soy based candles that have a ring hidden in each and every one of their candles.  According to the back of my candle, the rings can vary in value from $10 to $5000 (and according to their website, if the inside of your ring is stamped with 14K, you need to take it to a jeweler to be appraised).  Fun, right?

Well.  Earlier this month, Diamond Candle sent me a free candle to try out.  I got a honeysuckle scented candle and loved the scent.  It smells great just setting or being burned.

Okay, so I immediately started burning my candle, because I just couldn't wait to find my ring.  I burned the candle for a few days and then was able to see a little foil pouch hiding in the wax.  And...I may or may not have dug my way through my candle before it was really ready in order to check out the ring.

I managed to get the foil pouch out (with minimal damage to my candle - I would recommend waiting until it has sufficiently burned enough to dig your ring out). opened it up and voila!
A fun silver ring with a yellow, heart shaped "gem".

Now.  My ring obviously wasn't worth more than $10.  Unfortunately, it doesn't really even fit any of my fingers (losing a few pounds would probably solve that issue!).  However, it was a TON of fun finding a little surprise in my candle.  My husband asked if I would actually buy one of the candle later down the road.  And honestly?  Why not?  Their candles are reasonably priced, they burn well, smell good AND you get the added fun of finding a ring.  Win, win, win!.

Well guess what!!  Diamond Candle is providing a candle for you to win yourselves!  How fun is that?!?  Just follow the Rafflecopter entry below and on Wednesday morning, I will pick a winner.  Good luck and enjoy!!

Adventures in Amblyopia: A Book Review

I'm finally back!! Well, sort of. I'm here for a couple of days and then gone again for the weekend. But then next week, I am back for real, for the rest of the summer!!

Before I went out of town last month, I was contacted to see if I would be interested in reviewing a new children's book coming out that dealt with the need for glasses. Of course, I said yes!! When I got home, I found this adorable little book sitting in my mailbox:

I quickly scanned through it and knew instantly that my 4 year old would be IN LOVE with this book.
I was right. He couldn't get his little hands on it fast enough, and has since asked everybody to read it to him multiple times. Not only is it a fun story about Arlo, a dog who realizes he needs glasses, but it's also educational (it explains exactly what happens at the doctor's office). Plus, it's a pop up book! And, when Arlo goes to the doctor's to pick out new glasses? There are different pairs of glasses in the book that your child can physically take out and try on Arlo themselves.

TOO CUTE!!!

Okay. So to go along with the release of this new book, Workman Publishing is hosting a contest on Pinterest, where you can pin photos of your favorite pet wearing glasses. You have until July 31st to pin your photos, and the winners will receive an autographed copy of the book. Be sure to follow {this link} for all the details!! Still need an invite to Pinterest? Leave me a comment and I'd be happy to send you one (you'll love it, I promise!!).

And, if you're dying to get your hands on a copy of the book right now, click {here}. This would make an adorable gift for any child!!

**Workman Publishing did provide me a free book to keep in exchange for this review. However, all thoughts and expressions are mine and mine alone. We honestly love this book!!**
