Quick and Easy Dinner Rolls

This is by far the easiest bread recipe I have ever made. So...if you think you can't make homemade bread, give this a try. It's quick and easy! This afternoon I did 12 dinner rolls and a loaf of bread with this recipe.

90 Minute Bread
4 c. warm water (I just let the tap get hot)
3 T. yeast
6 T. butter
3 T. sugar
4 t. salt
8 - 12 c. flour
(**I have learned that 8 cups is the perfect amount for me in this house. So, I typically put 7 1/2 cups and leave the last 1/2 cup to use for kneading. You want it as sticky as you can have it and still be able to handle the dough. You can also use whole wheat flour or all purpose flour...whatever floats your boat! For these, I actually used 2 cups of whole wheat pastry flour and 6 cups of all purpose flour).

Put water, yeast, butter and sugar together in a large mixing bowl. Let stand for 15 minutes. Mix in salt and flour and let it stand for 15 minutes more. Knead dough and let stand for 15 minutes. Shape into loaves or rolls and place in greased pans. Let rise for 15 minutes. Bake at 400 for 30-40 minutes (for loaves. For rolls bake 10-15 minutes). Butter tops and dump onto cloth while still warm.

My family is rather impatiently waiting for the rest of dinner to be done so they can dig into the bread!

I just made these but I cut the recipe down to a 1/4 and made a small pan of rolls . They turned out great for my first time making homemade beead! It got a bit crisp on the bottom like biscuts do though - I may have left them in a bit long trying to get them to brown on top!
