a) good gauze swaddle blankets are typically pretty pricey
b) they will be perfect for the AZ heat
and
c) I can make sure the blanket is big enough to actually swaddle Little Miss without it coming undone all the time.

Essentially, all you do is cut an even square out of your fabric, finish the edges (you can serge if you like) and then you're done. Super simple.
Here's what I came up with. After following the tutorial mentioned above, I had a plain pink, 46"x46" square gauze blanket. I wanted to dress it up just a tad, so I found a pattern for a little elephant that I could turn into an applique.
Using some scrap fabric I had laying around, and following the directions on the fusible webbing, I came up with this sweet little thing.
So, for less than $7.00, I have a blanket that I love and hopefully one that will keep my little one swaddled tight!

I found your link on delightful order, and I just love the little elephant applique you added to your blanket. Cotton Gauze (muslin) swaddle blankets are the best!

Cute, I like the elephant color pattern! Makes me want to swaddle my 1 year old son in it :)

Thanks for linking to our first Eat Make Grow Blog Hop!
I just had my first baby in June and we swaddled her every night for the first month. Then it got really hot and we don't air condition so she just slept in her diaper. I must go to the fabric store and get some light weight muslin. This looks so easy and perfect for August.
We are already on to Blog Hop #2. I hope you'll come and link to that one as well. Feel free to link to any older posts if you think they are timely and pertinent.
